HydroWorx, located in Middletown , specializes in designing, manufacturing and marketing the world’s finest water therapy and conditioning equipment for the home, sports, healthcare, eldercare and fitness markets. The company leads the industry in scientific research and data supporting the therapeutic and rehabilitative properties of water therapy.
Locally, HydroWorx’s presence has been seen as title sponsors for the Catfish Triathalon in August, and the Harrisburg Half-Marathon, as well as a segment sponsor for the Capital City Challenge race this September. On September 9th as the half-marathon is being run on the streets of downtown, a relay half-marathon will be run on an underwater treadmill in the HydroWorx mobile showroom on City Island .
“Team HydroWorx” will include Jerry Sandusky, Jon Ritchie, and Mike McHugh.
Jerry Sandusky, Retired Penn State Nittany Lion Defensive Football Coordinator and founder of The Second Mile. Started in 1977, The Second Mile is a statewide non-profit organization for children who need additional support. Nine programs and over 100000 children are helped each year through activities that promote self-esteem as well as physical, academic and personal success.
Jon Ritchie, Academic All-Big Ten at Michigan ; Co-captain, Academic All-Pac-10 at Stanford. 5-year starter at fullback for Oakland Raiders; team played in the Super Bowl. Starter and co-captain for Philadelphia Eagles team that played in the Super Bowl. Jon has been busy color commentating for NFL Europa, the Atlantic 10, and Colonial Athletic Association. Also contributes in the studio for CN8’s "Out of Bounds" and "ESPN First Take". Volunteer assistant for the Cumberland Valley High School Varsity football team the past two years. He is in his first year at HydroWorx.
Mike McHugh is a former Hershey Bears Player and captain of the 1996-97 Calder Cup Championship Team. He was a walk-on for the Maine Black Bears and became the All-American Captain for the Final Four Team. Mike was also the 1988 Hockey East Player of the Year and AHL Playoff Most Valuable Player. He is a Senior VP and nine year veteran of HydroWorx.
In addition to their dedication to local events, in the last six months HydroWorx’s aquatic therapy pools have been sold to such notable clients as the Washington Nationals, NY Mets, Carolina Panthers, University of Texas, NY Jets, Oklahoma State, NJ Devils and Villanova University .

Rehabilitation after an injury, accident or disability has been greatly enhanced at the Kansas Join and Spine Center , The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Hardin Hospital with HydroWorx pools being installed in 2007. In October, Dr. John McDonald, physician to the late Christopher Reeve, will open the Johns Hopkins Kennedy Kreiger Institute serving children with spinal cord injuries and paralysis. Dr. McDonald’s activity-based treatment will include two state-of-the-art pools from HydroWorx.
