Benefits of HydroWorx Physical Therapy Sessions for Trauma Survivors
On August 1, 2007, Paula’s life changed. So did the lives of hundreds of other people who were crossing the I-35W Mississippi Bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Without warning, the massive bridge collapsed, killing 13 and injuring many more … including Paula. News channels repeated footage of the aftermath again and again, but even those stark images could not relay the trauma that survivors were unexpectedly dealt. Paula, a once-active woman, was left with a brain and spinal chord injury that would require intensive rehab.
Fortunately, Paula chose to work with a physical therapist who understood the value of aquatic therapy.
Now 46 and improving by leaps and bounds each month, Paula credits physical therapy in a HydroWorx physical therapy pool with much of her success. Not only has regular aquatic therapy greatly improved her flexibility and range of motion; it’s also helped her movement and gait.
