Why Water is Beneficial for Arthritis & Fibromyalgia Patients

With the inflammation caused by Arthritis and the chronic pain associated with Fibromyalgia, managing these symptoms is a daily challenge. More and more patients are finding that relaxation and aquatic therapy are two of the most important elements to keeping your body healthy.

Exercising in a HydroWorx pool allows for the patient to maintain relaxation while exercising. The warm water allows for the body to receive sensory stimulation, which relaxes the muscles and takes away the unnecessary stress to the joints. While the patient exercises in the pool, 80% of their body weight is removed, so 20% of their weight is putting stress on their body. The pool also allows for patients to manage  pain while using the HydroWorx massage hose for relaxing and healing injured tissue.

There are many benefits that result from exercising with an underwater treadmill that allow the body to relieve stress and muscle soreness. These include: relaxation, increased joint range of motion, pain relief, enhanced mobility, improved flexibility, removing weight from joints and bones, and many other benefits that decrease the side effects of chronic pain conditions.

  1. I can attest that pool exercise is definitely the best approach for those with arthritis or any kind of joint injuries… In my years as a personal trainer, I’ve used similar approaches with great success for a number of clients.

On one occasion, I was able to assist a client who had dedicated access to a HyroWorx pool, and it was highly impressive. Your team has definitely come up with some excellent solutions, and I have recommended getting a HydroWorx setup to my current employer. 😉

    Keep up the good work!
