Robert Griffin III to Present HydroWorx Excellence in Aquatics Award at NATA in Las Vegas, NV
Griffin’s multiple, authentic and deeply personal rehabilitation experiences with water therapy, makes him a logical presenter of the Excellence in Aquatics Award to be given out on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Middletown, PA (PRWEB) June 20, 2013
Getting players back to the field rapidly following major orthopedic injuries is critical in professional and collegiate athletics today. As fans watch gruesome footage over and over and wish for their favorite player to be back soon, the unsung heroes, the Athletic Trainers behind the scenes, are using their gifted hands and minds and innovative technologies to heal the athletes faster to deliver them to the field “in game shape.” It’s all about maximizing the team’s investment in the athletes and winning games; and that means rapid recoveries are a must.
One emerging and proven method is the use of advanced underwater treadmill technology combined with underwater video and powerful resistance and massage jets. This is the same cutting edge technology used by recent NFL stars and notable hopefuls such as Adrian Peterson, Jamal Charles and recently Marcus Lattimore of the 49ers. All of these superb football players relied on HydroWorx technology as a key accelerator in their rehab and conditioning.
Robert Griffin III, winner of the Heisman Trophy and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, knows this story well. When Griffin suffered his ACL tear at Baylor University, water treadmill therapy was utilized aggressively. Now again for his latest ACL recovery, the Redskins’ Athletic Trainers and Griffin’s doctors and therapists have again relied heavily upon HydroWorx to help get Griffin healthy. The final reality of this recovery remains to be seen, but all indications are excellent thus far.
Because of Griffin’s multiple, authentic and deeply personal rehabilitation experiences with water therapy, he is a logical presenter of the Excellence in Aquatics Award to be given out on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 11:00am-1:00pm. Griffin will be at HydroWorx’s booth #1553 at the National Athletic Trainer’s Association 64th Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposium. Griffin will share his personal rehab stories and recognize the importance of the athletic training community in his many recoveries. Experiencing first-hand the importance of an extraordinary rehabilitation process, he will be paying homage to the talented Athletic Trainers who cared for him at Baylor and the Washington Redskins and also give credit to the other Athletic Trainers who care for pro and collegiate athletes every day and with little recognition.
The 2013 Excellence in Aquatics Award recognizes professionals who, despite all odds, garnered superior rehabilitation results through innovative, and sometimes unconventional, methods. These pioneers relied on aquatics as a medium to help achieve exceptional results. This year’s nominees include the Duke Basketball Sports Medicine Team, Carson Newman College Football and Nova Southeastern University’s Dustin Gates, MS, ATC. Also on the list of nominees are Eric Sugarman and the Minnesota Vikings Sports Medicine Staff for the amazing rehabilitation of Adrian Peterson–an athlete to which Griffin’s rehab has been compared in the media of late.
Like Griffin’s rehabilitation story thus far, all of the “Aquatic Excellence” nominees displayed remarkable dedication and creativity to drive rapid recoveries and also maintain fitness levels by cross-training in HydroWorx pools.
