Monaco Meet Updates on Rupp, Farah
To say that Monaco’s Diamond League meet over the weekend was a shocker would be an understatement! We’re still reeling from the two newsworthy occurrences: Mo Farah’s stunning victory and Galen Rupp’s sudden fall.
For Farah, it was a winning 5000m that ended in a PR and European record 12 minutes, 54.11 seconds time. The press and videographers went wild, spawning articles like:
- Thanks to Farah, Brits Take a Keen Interest in Salazar
- Mo Farah and Tiffany Ofili-Porter set records in Monaco
Unfortunately, Farah’s Oregon Project training partner, Rupp, met with defeat. On pace to run his strongest 5000m to date, he fell with three laps to go. Salazar reportedly texted about his athlete afterwards: “Scratched up and sore but upbeat, ran good hard workout after, not tired. Has to learn to stay out of trouble.”
We’re just proud of both athletes as they continue their “London Bound” journeys to the 2012 Olympics.
