BYU Study Examines Underwater Treadmill Workout
Is running on an underwater treadmill as effective as running on a land-based treadmill? That’s the question researchers at Brigham Young University sought to uncover with their recent study involving 18 participants.
The dozen-and-a-half runners’ cardiorespiratory responses were measured during carefully-monitored workout sessions. (To throw another nuance into the study, participants wore shoes in the water for some sessions to measure intensity and resistance with and without footwear.)
