Back Pain No Longer Confines Patient to Wheelchair

Back Pain No Longer Confines Patient to Wheelchair

Vital EnergyDiagnosed with Scoliosis, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, bulging discs, arthritis and having no disc between two of her vertebra, Diane had become sedentary. Fear and pain began to accompany any activity she needed to perform. She was told that there was nothing more she could do and that she would have to accept continuing injections and life in a wheelchair. Not wanting to give up on her life and accept this diagnosis, Diane went to Vital Energy Wellness and Rehab Center and began therapy in their HydroWorx 500 Series pool.

Today, she is no longer afraid to perform everyday functions and doesn’t need the assistance of a wheelchair. She is now able to walk and perform everyday exercises. She no longer needs injections and has renounced her wheelchair vehemently, stating that it is no longer in her foreseeable future thanks to her water therapy. Water therapy has given her life back, and as she continues to strengthen her muscles she is continually able to increase her activity level and overall health.

“I tell everyone. It’s amazing. I never thought I could walk again. My dream was to always be able to walk my dogs, that’s all I ever wanted. Now maybe I can. I could not stand up straight to save my life. There was no way, the pain was extraordinarily bad just to try to stand. And look at me, I’m standing!”

Back pain comes in many different forms and can range from a nagging nuisance to a debilitating diagnosis. Although this patient was left feeling hopeless, she was able to regain her confidence and improve her outlook thanks to water therapy. The activity in the water was small at first, but she was able to gradually increase her range of exercises and intensity to the point where she could move again on land.

This is a great reminder that “where there is a will, there is a way!”
