Northern Illinois University Uses HydroWorx for Athlete Rehab
It’s not common to have a football player experience a left Adductor Longus Avulsion and a partial left Adductor Brevis Avulsion. So when a Northern Illinois University athlete was diagnosed with this issue, Kammy Powell, the University’s head football athletic trainer turned to the “big leagues'” medical staff.
As with many injuries, there were two routes to take to get the footballer back on the field. One involved surgery, one involved no surgery but plenty of rehab. So the head football athletic trainer chose the latter and helped the athlete regain his health through exercises that included the onsite HydroWorx underwater treadmill pool.
Below, she shares the case study and then shows the protocols she used. It’s a great illustration of the recuperative power of water!
“He loved it! He was getting a good muscle burn without feeling like he hurt anywhere. Right now, he’s training for pro day to go to the next level…” – Kammy Powell, Head Football Athletic Trainer, Northern Illinois University
