HydroWorx Team Member Makes History in AHL Outdoor Classic

Although playing outdoor hockey is nothing new, the concept of playing outdoor hockey in an outdoor stadium in front of thousands of fans is only starting to become a tradition hockey fans look forward to. In Hershey, PA watching the Hershey Bears take on rival Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins outdoors in their own backyard was something not soon to be forgotten. For the long-standing Hershey  hockey fans, 0f which there are many, watching some of their favorite players from the past was even more memorable.  Alumni players that had been on a Calder Cup winning team from Hershey faced off against the much younger alumni of Wilkes-Barre Scranton on Saturday.

Many of us at HydroWorx were present at Saturday’s alumni game. And although most of us are naturally sports fans, we had an even bigger reason to cheer: our very own Chief of Field Operations, Mike McHugh was part of the game!

Mike, captain of the Hershey Bears 1997 Calder Cup winning team, got plenty of ice time and scored the team’s 3rd goal:

A lot of fun to play with guys I haven’t seen for a while, a lot of fun to play with guys I didn’t play with and played against on this team and the Wilkes-Barre team. The fan turnout was fantastic. The ice was good. It’s something that I’m never going to forget.

The HydroWorx team had a lot of fun cheering him on in the chilly conditions.  We are extremely proud of him and are happy to see he was still able to make it into work Monday morning… he wasn’t even limping.
