A Wounded Soldier’s Road to Recovery

On September 2nd, 2009 Staff Sgt. Casey Church was aboard a Chinook helicopter on a re-supply mission in Afghanistan, when a RPG (rocket-propelled grenade) hit the plane. Casey got the brunt of the hit, tearing all of the meat and muscle from his mid-left thigh to his right backside. He underwent a total of 18 surgeries, suffering from severe tissue damage requiring multiple skin grafts and the removal of 9 inches of intestine. This video and protocol took place at Alton Physical Therapy in Alton, Illinois with physical trainer, Brianna Overbey.
