Q&A with the Director of Wellness at Summit Place Senior Living Campus

We had the chance to sit down with Christine Shidla, Director of Wellness at Summit Place Senior Living Campus, to ask some key questions about how she utilizes their HydroWorx 2000 Series pool. Learn more about hydrotherapy and senior living facilities.

How Do You Bill For Your Pool?

All of our business is private pay and is charged as an amenity for our residents and outside clients.   A resident at Summit Place Senior Living Campus receives a deep tissue massage treatment in the HydroWorx 2000 Series residents at $1.00/minute, 15 minute minimum while outside clients pay $35/30 minutes. We also lease our pool out to a local clinic, 15 hours per week at $52.00 per hour.

Do you market your pool to your residents or the community?

We rely mostly on word of mouth and referrals through physical therapists and physicians. We do market our pool as an alternative to traditional land based exercise. Our partnerships with clinics and the school district allow for more referrals to our pool.

How is your pool staffed?

We have a minimum of 2 staff members a day scheduled in the pool (a morning and afternoon shift) with one me in charge.

Do you do single or multiple person sessions in the pool?

We will do mostly single, but also some dual personal training in the pool.  Similar heights and fitness levels make dual training more beneficial to both clients.

What type of accessories do you use in the pool?

I would highly recommend accessories, pool equipment is a necessity to provide excellent sessions and create variety. We use noodles, fitness paddles, vinyl ankle weights of various sizes, steps and body fit collars. Do you do single or multiple person sessions in the pool? We will do mostly single, but also some dual personal training in the pool.

What are the most common injuries you treat in the pool?

Orthopedic injuries such as knees and hips. We also work with many individuals that experience lower back pain.
