Using Aquatic Therapy to Avoid the One and Done Patient

Using Aquatic Therapy to Avoid the One and Done Patient

- EDT

October 11, 2016 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm EDT

Presented By:  Keith Ori, PT, Owner of Orthopedic Rehab, Inc., and Teresa Kropp, PT

We all know patients who believe that PT stands for Pain and Torture! Patients sometimes have a preconceived idea of what physical therapy is only to have their fears confirmed when land-based physical therapy proves to be too difficult because of their low function levels and pain tolerance. Some of these patients never return to physical therapy and pass that unflattering message on to others.

In this webinar, Keith Ori, PT, Owner of Orthopedic Rehab, Inc., and Teresa Kropp, BS PT, will share tips for identifying these individuals and strategizing the appropriate course of therapy for each patient. They will discuss what makes water the ideal treatment environment for low-functioning patients, such as those struggling with co-morbidities and obesity, that will likely not do well in a land-based physical therapy environment.

Keith and Teresa will share how aquatic therapy, in their experience, has developed into the best available tool to use for these individuals by giving them an opportunity to experience early physical and mental success in their treatment program to keep them coming back.

AS A RESULT OF ATTENDING THIS WEBINAR, ATTENDEES WILL LEARN:

  • Strategies for identifying the best course of treatment for each patient based on their pain and function levels
  • How to effectively utilize an aquatic therapy pool to create the ideal environment for low-functioning patients
  • How to attract referrals from doctors with low-functioning patients with few options
