It’s January and we’re ready to hold another HydroWorx Year of Giving charity donation poll!
If you’re not familiar with the HydroWorx Year of Giving program, it’s simple — our company will give $100 each month to a deserving charity. Every month, we ask three of our employees to suggest the charities they support. Then, YOU help us decide which one gets a check!
January’s poll closes on the 28th at 11:59 p.m. EST, so don’t delay!

HydroWorx Employee: Kyle Vowler
Kyle’s Charity: Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
I have several friends who have recently served or are currently serving our country in Afghanistan and Iraq. I believe it is our duty as a nation to take exceptional care of them and those like them who return injured from service and the families of those who don’t return.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families.
Begun in 2000 under the auspices of the Intrepid Museum Foundation and established as an independent not-for-profit organization in 2003, the Fund has provided close to $120 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. These efforts are funded entirely with donations from the public, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have contributed to the Fund.

HydroWorx Employee: Jody Zavacky
Jody’s Charity: Canine Companions for Independence
My charity is Canine Companions for Independence. Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities, free of charge.
I have chosen this charity because of my love for dogs and for the service and companionship they provide. With today’s economy it is difficult for organizations as this to be able to provide and train these dogs for free. Canine Companions enhance the quality of life to those with disabilities.

HydroWorx Employee: Matt Foss
Matt’s Charity: Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG Foundation
The charity that I would like to nominate is Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG foundation.I was recently been diagnosed with testicular cancer. Therefore, this foundation hits home for me in a many ways.
It is truly unbelievable that Lance won the Tour de France a record consecutive 7 times. But even more amazing was that his fight with cancer occurred before he had all of his cycling success. Lance was diagnosed with testicular cancer with a tumor that had metastasized to his brain and lungs. Despite surgery and extensive chemotherapy, his internal fight not to give up and come out on top is what I call being mentally strong.
Being mentally strong through life’s ups and downs is what LIVESTRONG is all about.
I had firsthand experience with this. I was fortunate enough to have the same doctor as Lance did. He performed my surgery just a week ago. I can tell you that LIVESTRONG is a way of life for the people at IU medical center not just a yellow bracelet.
The Lance Armstrong story spread across the world as one man defeating all odds when life got tough. Now LIVESTRONG is helping the world. Jump on the website sometime, it is pretty unbelievable all the great things they are doing.
